End of Week 1 16-17

Dance Team sure got busy this week as teams hit their stride and got fully back into winter season.  Fall season this year was action packed with all the shows, contests, and Miss Dance Team going on.  Elsewhere in the state, girls wrapped up volleyball seasons, and the fall season swimmers…..well…..we’ll see them later.  Lots of winter tryouts happened this week to kick off the season – congrats to those who made teams and hit new heights!  I have a natural love-hate with anything “tryout” or “placement” oriented – simply because it’s hard to do, and even “easy” decisions can be hard to take.  Keep some perspective out there dance teamers – everyone has to start somewhere this season and the world is what you make it and how you choose to see it.  For one, you’re in dance team so you’re 90% of the way to the best thing in high school sports already.  If you didn’t get the news you were hoping for this week – you’re not alone and it’s not the end.  Make the dream happen – it’s up to you!  Some news and notes:

Fall season highlights:  Did you see the cool action vids over at Alliance Dance Network?  Can’t wait to do more with Seth as we roll into covering winter season.  Head on over and see what happened this fall.

Winter season schedule:  For the most part, the winter schedule is pulled together.  If you’re a meet participant or coordinator – send those schedules over once you have it and we’ll share it for fans here.  As a reminder, we collect scores directly from participants – so send in PDFs, screen shots, files, or a picture text to mnhsdanceteam@gmail.com to see those scores updated once its time.  Thanks in advance!

Student Events:  MADT member schools have the student convention on the way as well as the general membership meeting 10/5/16.  It’s only a week away!  Pop on over to the new association website (now a dot com)  at madtcoaches.com  Coaches can still join membership and get involved in our leadership body.  Students can register until Monday  — so hop (leap and jump) to it!

MNHSDT’s plans:  Dance team coverage is evolving and growing at an amazing rate!  I’m so pleased to see that a tiny project here to provide a needed service has turned into a movement.  Our focus on scores here – can now evolve into score breakdown, commentary, and analysis as you can get a better view of just scoresheets from more locations.  I’m thrilled to say that I have a digital assistant with scores this year to save my poor 10-key from wearing out entering each of your scores by hand.  I’m hoping to save time and pour it back into more coverage, analysis, and podcasts and mulitmedia adventures for you.   Our team here is now 4 people strong instead of my usual one man show.  I’m excited to combine forces! Thanks for your readership, we’re ready to kick off our 6th year!  (can you believe that?)  See you on the dance floor……
