In Depth: Week 7 Scores

Its been 2 weeks since we’ve gotten to do a comparison of the scores so far, so there are a lot of developments. Lets take a look at what’s going on in each class and style.

Class A: The high score this week still belongs to Duluth Marshall (71.6) who is a full 10 points ahead of the pack (average score). Frazee leads for the week’s scores as the Diva’s didn’t compete last weekend. Class A kick has a new high score from Aitkin at the Detroit Lakes invitational (78.2), and they are also a full 10 points out in front. With so few class A teams competing early season, this one is still a wide open field.

Class AA: Totino Grace took home the jazz high score of the week (75), at their conference meet on 12/5. Most improved this week was New Prague, with at 5 point gain from before Thanksgiving to after. In the kick side of things, Benilde St. Margarets took top score at their conference kick meet (80 ave) I’ll be interested to see what they do with that from here. If you’re looking closely, you’ll see it’s pretty tough to pick a most improved as scores went down for many teams this past weekend. A great reminder that meets are judged on a scale of that panel, on that day, and sometimes those points are harder earned.

Class AAA: Wayzata came storming out to top the field with a 90.8 average this week at the Chaska invitational. Wayzata is the first team in AAA to join the 90 average club for the year. Wayzata, Rogers, and Eden Prairie all take a most improved spot, moving up approximately 13 points on average from before Thanksgiving break. Wow. In kick, Chaska makes a splash in AAA with a high score of 88.4 (ave) this week. Most improved was Forest Lake who jumped 8 points.

Congratulations to those teams who are workin’ that scoresheet this week. Check back tomorrow for our look at conference standings.
