March News and Stats from 2014-15

Hey there friends – its been a while for me to get back on the blog.  Honestly, I haven’t really known what to do or say after this year – so I took the route of not saying anything at all.  Now that everyone’s had a minute to just take a breath, and I’ve hit the ski slopes more than a few times, I think we can resume a bit of normal.  Whatever that might look like from now on.  First we have a bunch of news:

MADT Coaches Banquet:  Registration for the annual coaches celebration ends at NOON today!  Get on over and sign up for some fun, we could all use it.  The event will be at 6:30pm on Friday 3/13 in Maple Grove.  I’ll see you there!

All-State Performance:  The huge spectacle known as the all-state performance will be Saturday 3/14 at Wayzata High School.  This event is a great fundraiser for the MADT scholarship fund (actually, this event loses some money because the kids participate for free. My bad, I knew it wasn’t for profit at least…)  and a final farewell for a lot of amazing seniors.  I’m hearing word our start time might be a bit in the air right now, Start time will be 6:30pm as planned.  Got updated there too!  That afternoon is also the MADT coaches semi-annual meeting.  VERY important that we have our coach members there this year  – so be sure to attend!

2015-2017 Section Realignments:  Yes friends, every 2 years we have the huge drama of sections changes – and it’s happening next week!  My info says Monday 3/9  — but they never really stick to that each time, and last go-around it was early.  Keeping my eyes peeled to MSHSL.org for you, and I’ll send out the red alert as soon as anything goes up.  This was a major re-organizational year for all sports, and dance team has some changes to how we divided the classes (A/AA/AAA) to be based on jazz numbers – so things WILL change.

State Results:  I’m working on getting state results up for you.  The big issues right now are that I need to get with the judges association to release some state numbers to me (I won’t do just the parts I have until everything is gathered) and AAA kick results are….well who knows what they want me to do with that, I’m not gonna move until someone makes some statements at the league.  The league posted the top 6 on their website.  You can look at them here.  Otherwise I’ll get your 1-12 complied out of the live blog here shortly.  Bear with me and thanks for your patience when I’m a bit in the middle of something I’d rather not be.

2014-15 Season Stats:  Very exciting news that this year I’ve spent some time crunching numbers over the season on 3 different topics of interest.  1) Do rank points really matter/how often do they change results?  2) Do large meets change results? Do points get “tighter” together or do we see “weird” results from large meets or just anytime?  3) Do scores move in a linear fashion from November to Sections?  I’ll go in-depth on the stats page – you can link over to it here.
