Welcome back to school and work after the long MLK weekend. We have lots to talk about after this weekend’s results have come in! Be sure to check out the results page for the full listing of placements.
Farmington Invitational: Cannon Falls claimed the win over this mixed field in kick, while Chisago Lakes continues to make their jazz dance look good for the judges, claiming 1st in that division.
Wayzata Invitational: Host Wayzata took the top crown in jazz with Eastview and Hopkins taking impressive placements in a stacked field. Sections 2 and 4 AAA are going to be all over each other this year after seeing the top placers at this meet! Brainerd took home the kick crown with St. Cloud Tech and Wayzata just behind.
Totino Grace Invitational: Sartell won the jazz division in a tough field, with host TG just behind. State champ Chaska dropped jazz this week, keeping us all in suspense for a while longer. In kick, Chaska maintains some distance over Sartell, but no one is getting perfect 1st place ranks in AA this year – so expect more tight races to come.
Pelican Rapids Invitational: Moorhead won the mixed class field in jazz with Aitkin continuing to look strong in class A. Detroit Lakes won the kick field, with host school Pelican Rapids turning in solid finishes in both divisions at this one.
Mayer Lutheran Invitational: Host school Mayer was DQ’d from the jazz field, leaving Norwood to claim the top spot. In kick, PACT charter school took top honors over a tough pre-sectional matchup.
YME Invitational: BOLD took a huge jump forward and took a strong 2nd place (with some 1st ranks) behind host YME and ahead of powerhouse LqPV in the kick division. Host YME cleaned up the jazz division as well.
CLC Championship: This mixed class conference went into the win column for Brainerd this year after a disappointing finish last year. Sartell keeps showing how strong AA really is, winning kick over Saturday’s AAA winner at Wayzata invitational. (Brainerd).
Lake Superior Conference Championship: Duluth Marshall won the conference this year with a strong showing from the Superior WI team who is making a name for themselves on this side of the border.
Wright County Conference Championship: This wild and crazy anything-can-and-will-happen conference showed yet again how stacked on top of each other these teams are with ties and deductions galore. 10 point deductions for having 4 coaches at the sound table made for crazy results with the kick, jazz, and overall champions all being different teams. Hutchinson continues to look good in kick, with Mound, Holy Family, Delano, and Orono all placing high. Delano would have won the kick division without the deductions. Crazy.
Northern Lights Conference Championship: Aitkin took home the gold in their conference finals on Friday, with Pequot Lakes looking good as the AA runner up. This conference continues to make each other stronger, with even a last place finish being potentially state worthy.
Big 9 Conference Championship: Austin pulled out a win in kick over Faribault, yet Fbo retained an overall championship with a win in the jazz division. Austin and Faribault haven’t seen the last of each other yet this year. Should be fun at section 1AA.
