Results Recap – A Cold One

Brrrrr….

Hope you’re staying warm in this blast of cold.  I know I’m not.  With dance practices and meets cancelled left and right, we did manage to squeak out some results from this past weekend.  The leaderboards won’t see a major overhaul for a while, as teams mostly shook off the winter break cobwebs and got their break-time changes and re-dos out there for the first time.

Henry Sibley Invitational:  Kasson Mantorville showed it’s having a good season by winning the AA categories here.  The AAA was a tight match though, with host Henry Sibley pulling off a tie-win over Forest Lake in jazz, a big achievement over a strong FL team.  Kick saw Sibley in 1st with Champlin Park looking good in 2nd.

Belle Plaine Invitational:  The Mound Westonka team took a sweep of the AA division, with a few shakeups in the always unpredictable section 3AA.  Delano got a nice 2nd in jazz, and Albert Lea took 2nd in kick.  Host Belle Plaine took 3rd in kick, surging ahead of some section and conference rivals.  Class A had PACT taking another jazz win over 2 section teams, and Randolph jumped up to a win in the kick field, showing they’re looking good come sections time as well.

Plainview Invitational:  The class A/AA mixed field was a great day for Dover Eyota who took a first and second, with the host school winning kick.  Goodhue is making a push in the kick field, getting ahead of rival Wabasha.  Section 1A has some serious depth this year and will be worth keeping an eye on come this weekend’s Winona invitational.

Alexandria Invitational:  The dramatically shortened (due to weather) invite did not bring the promised class A matchups, but Frazee did manage the double win in a small field of 3 teams.  In AA, St. Cloud Cathedral is continuing its strong tradition with a double win over some top-notch section 4AA teams this year.  Rocori struck another blow against back-and-forth rival Sauk Rapids in the kick division, taking 2nd overall in both divisions.  There will be at least one good St. Cloud area school not making it to state this year, but for now they’re battling it out.  Watch for more results from this group at the upcoming Rocori invite and some Central Lakes Conference events.
