Results Recap – December 7th Invites

What a huge weekend of invitationals we just had!  Hundreds of performances went into the books (it took me 3 hours just to get varsity scores updated!) and some big head-to-heads happened for the first time this season.  Lets take a quick look into what all went down.  Stay tuned tomorrow for our Tuesday In-Depth for all you scoresheet  junkies out there.   Stay warm!

Apple Valley Invitational:  The AV invite was mostly a AA affair this year, with Cannon Falls taking the kick title in its’ debut in the class.  In the jazz world, Holy Family surged ahead from a middle of the road placement at Maple Grove 2 weeks back.  In class A, Crosby won the kick rematch from Maple Grove invite with PACT, but the Pantherettes took a win in the jazz division over CI and St. Charles.  The AAA division was loaded in the kick section, with up and comer Minnetonka taking a critical win over extremely strong performances from Faribault and Lakeville South.  Host Apple Valley had to settle for 4th.

Detroit Lakes Invitational:  The Frazee Fly-Girls made their debut against a strong Pelican Rapids team, taking 1st in jazz.  Aitkin came out strong as usual, putting up a good lead in the point for themselves in kick.  In the AA/AAA side of things, Moorhead took home a couple of wins.

Rogers Invitational:  The story here was all Maple Grove, with host Rogers getting a key 2nd place in jazz.  St. Cloud Cathedral looked good enough for a win in AA kick, but the real news here is Mound Westonka claiming a 2nd over a tough sectional field.  Keep an eye out for them at this week’s Wright County Conference meet.

Chaska Invitational:  It seemed like all of AAA made their way over to Chaska for their huge annual event.  There was fierce competition for the top and the Hawks took home it’s first AAA win over Eastview in kick this time.  I can’t remember the last time Eastview didn’t win a kick matchup (someone know?) so this one was huge.  In jazz, Wayzata survived the onslaught and stayed on top of Chaska and Eastview who were a tight 2 and 3.  Deeper in the ranks, Eden Prairie can be pleased with a 4th over a tough field in kick, and Edina brought it enough to take 4th in jazz over some equally big names.  Lake conference and section 2AAA will be stacked on top of each other from here on out.

New Ulm Cathedral Mini-Meet:  NUC hosted a quad with BOLD taking the win in both styles early on.  Looks like a fun time was had by all at this lighthearted quad.  Watch for these team this weekend at BOLD.

Forest Lake Invitational:  Host Forest Lake took the sweep of varsity and JV divisions in this small invite.  AA results are still missing from this meet.

Irondale Invitational:  Andover took 1st in the jazz division over area rivals, with Irondale claiming the kick division.  Bloomington took a solid 2nd here, after placing in the bottom 3 at conference earlier in the week, which really shows how deep the South Suburban Conference is in kick.  In AA, Sartell and Totino Grace swapped wins, with much remaining to be seen between these 2 squads.

Hayfield Invitational:  This class A/AA event had region powerhouse Lake City taking a win in kick, with a strong showing from Wabasha Kellogg for 2nd.  Rockford made a splash in it’s debut as a competition team in the jazz division, starting off with a win.
