Results Recap – December 8th Invitationals

Well the huge December 8th weekend wrapped up and hopefully all the travels safely avoided the major Sunday snowfall we picked up.  While the weather may have been cooperating, illness certainly didn’t seem to be as all I kept hearing about was how sick everyone has been all week long.  Teams are dropping entire practices for illness and the flu season is certainly descending upon Minnesota dance teams.  Stay healthy out there!  Lets take a look at what happened this weekend in the results.  Full results listings HERE

Eastview Invitational:  Cannon Falls secured their place in class A over rivals Lake City and Lac Qui Parle Valley in the A kick division.  In AA, a much anticipated matchup of Chaska, Faribault, and Sartell didn’t happen as Chaska had to drop kick at the last minute.  Sartell picked up the win anyways.  In jazz, Chaska did dance and won that division with ease.  In AAA , things got more interesting as Maple Grove established itself over Wayzata, Eastview and Hopkins as the big players.  Wayzata and Eastview are all over each other each weekend and neither one has yet established a clear win over the other.  Keep an eye on that matchup.  I think the top 4-5 teams there will continue to be very tight all year.  In kick, Eastview took the win with Maple Grove turning in an impressive 2nd.  Wayzata and Burnsville came in very close to each other for #3 and 4.

Lakeville North Invitational:  Henry Sibley came out on top in the massive kick division, with Austin showing its not going to be left out with a solid 2nd place.  In jazz, Chanhassen showed its making a name for itself as a relative newcomer to AAA by taking home a win.

Fergus Falls Invitational:  Host Fergus took home a win in kick, while rival Detroit Lakes got a hold of jazz.

Albany Invitational:  Class A giant Aitkin took home a close win over Pelican Rapids in kick where they are making a push.  In the jazz division, Duluth Marshall pulled out a win over a strengthening Mayer Lutheran team who finished ahead of regular state level team, Pelican Rapids.  That matchup should be tight for the rest of the year.

Zumbrota Mazeppa Invitational:  Host Zumbrota took the jazz crown, holding off area rival St. Charles to 2nd.  The big surprise here was the Randolph team making a push and ending up on top in the kick division over some tough regional competition from Dover and AA school, Plainview.  I would have liked to see that final announcement as Randolph has been waiting a long time for that one.

GREAT dancing this weekend  – congratulations to all the winners!  See you on the dance floor!
