Section Leaderboards – Class A

Well if you’re like me and keeping an eye on the season composite leaderboards after each meet, you can start to see some leaders in each section emerging.  The next 3 days we have a look at who’s-doing-what in each section, based on the highest score that team has earned in the first half of the season.  Today we start with class A.  Check back tomorrow for AA and on new year’s for AAA.  Keep in mind, this is for FUN, not FACT.  Scores are not consistent in every instance, and since this is the first year we have this, I have no idea how reliable it really is.  If you don’t like where you ranked out – then get busy!  I’d love to see some surprise victors in the coming weeks and remember dance team is winner takes all on that day/time/performance.  There are some really interesting stats if you look at what is “average” for the state, and by class and division.  A lot of my assumptions about what is really an “average” score by class and style seem to become clear when we have so much data to look at now.  Very cool.

Class A:

Section 1A:

What’s awesome about section 1A this year is that the highest score is in the JAZZ division instead of the usual kick side of things.  With Cannon Falls gone from this group,  and Lake City getting a new coaching staff – anything can happen here.  Otherwise, Wabasha Kellogg is off to a strong start, with Dover Eyota keeping it tight.

Section 2A:

Section 2A is so different from the past – plus when you throw in quite a few teams who either haven’t fielded a team this year, or haven’t brought out dances yet, we don’t have a great picture yet.   Rockford doesn’t seem to need any transition time as they go straight to the top in jazz, with Mayer Lutheran taking 2nd among the veteran teams.  PACT charter school is currently holding on over a strong kick-only team from Randolph.  Many of these teams meet for the first time this month and more will come to light then.

Section 3A:

Arguably the hardest section in A, the scores here are a step above with 5 kick teams breaking 60 points in December this year.  YME hasn’t shown us their jazz routine yet, but I expect that will disrupt the jazz leaders so far.  Montevideo hasn’t danced in a class A meet with these teams yet and might not be a true comparison yet.  Keep an eye out for results from the Marshall meet for this section to become more clear.

Section 4A:

This section is going to be keeping someone home who is of state caliber based on how well it’s been going so far.  The best action will be between Pelican Rapids, Frazee, and Crosby Ironton for top spots behind strong championship performances from Aitkin and Duluth Marshall.  The usual leaders better stay on their toes, this one won’t be easy.
