Weekend Preview – First December Meets

It’s time for invitationals to really pick up speed here as we come back from Thanksgiving break and head into our middle third of the season. This time of year is so fun to get out and watch a meet or two – the excitement of debut performances, the anything can happen feeling of an early season results announcement….. It really is the most wonderful time of the year! Lets see what’s happening statewide this weekend:

Apple Valley Invitational: One of the longest running meets is taking place again on its traditional first weekend of December date with a full roster of A, AA, and AAA. Teams from as far off as Duluth and Rochester will meet in the AAA section, with AA featuring a big matchup of 1AA teams. In class A, section 2 will be facing off big time in this one.

Detroit Lakes Invitational: This “up north” meet should feature a rivalry matchup with Frazee and Pelican Rapids along with their usual mix for this invite. Aitkin will come over to join the kick division and look to impress in their debut for the year.

Chaska Invitational: This is the big AAA pressure cooker for the weekend, featuring many of the big hitters from that division including Eastview, Wayzata, Faribault, and of course, Chaska. I don’t have an order of performance up – but basics of the day are listed. If you plan to watch this one, this gym is TIGHT – so get there early and park it. This one should have some interesting results coming in.

Hutchinson Invitational: A few west metro and west section teams will be getting together for this annual event. Mound, Orono, Waconia, Delano, Marshall, and Belle Plaine all bring the heat from section 3AA and should give teams a good idea where they stand in round one for their conference. Another good one for fans looking for a good show.

WOW Factor Sports Target Center Invite: This chance to get on the target center floor will feature all star, studio, and MN dance teams with different judging panels. Action packed and fun, its a great atmosphere and dress rehearsal for the state tournament. (no schedule posted)

Catholic Jamboree: The evening meet will feature a fun, and fundraising event for catholic-only schools to compete and bond. No schedule, but this one will be at Benilde with guests from Holy Family, Totino Grace, St. Cloud Cathedral and the like.

New Ulm Cathedral Mini-Meet: (no schedule) This small get-together will be a good warmup for a few west regional teams who have a strong friendship and sportsmanship that they should bring to this low-key event.

Hayfield Invitational: (no schedule up) This one should mostly be small SE regional class A teams giving it their first go on the dancefloor.

In other news – I’m looking for a few results yet from last weeks — Fergus Falls Quad, Metro West Jazz Meet, Lake Conference Kick, Tri-Metro Kick (composite sheet), Rochester Quad, and Shakopee Invitational (composite sheets).¬† If you have any of these, I take email, messages, pictures of scoresheet, whatever you got!¬† Help improve our content here by turning in your info as soon as possible¬† – many thanks!
