Weekend Preview – Holiday Invitationals

Happy holidays to my dance team fans out there!  We have a couple of conferences wrapping up this week and some big invites with key matchups to keep an eye on.  I for one will be making the trip to watch the BOLD invite (come say hi to me!) – so find somewhere to watch your favorite teams in action before the feasting and rest time begins.

Metro East Conference Championships:  Friday night we kick off the holiday tournaments with the Metro East Championships.  Henry Sibley tries to make it 7 in a row, and the always close Simley and South St. Paul will try to find a way to make their mark.

Lake City Invitational:  This Southeast matchup of A teams is a yearly tradition for section 1A.  Host Lake City tends to do well here, and keep an eye on teams from Dover, Wabasha, and Zumbrota.  No schedule at time of posting.

BOLD Invitational:  This one drew a huge cross section of the state with teams from Frazee to St. Charles and back again.  Sections 2A and 3A will make up most of the field, and we’ll finally see a debut from Yellow Medicine East.  Should be a fun one for small team fans.

Academy of Holy Angels Invitational:  The AHA Winter Jam is a AA tradition, with teams from all around the metro and beyond.  Notibly, Totino Grace and Benilde won’t be there, so there is room to breath and find some ground for the up and comers and powerhouse teams like Sartell and St. Cloud Cathedral.  Its a lot of rematches from Eastview, but throw in some teams who were at Fridley last weekend and it should be interesting.  Watch for how Austin might do, as well as Mound and host AHA.

Edina Invitational:  Edina hosts a low key and short day this year with teams from Forest Lake, Spring Lake Park, Anoka, Edina, and Rogers looking to be the highlights.

South Suburban Conference Championships – This championship is a great spot to check out the early season dances for the last time before many will retire them and move on to sections routines.  Lakeville South, Prior Lake, Burnsville, and Lakeville North are keeping it tight in the race behind a rolling-on Eastview team who is out in the lead here so far.

Metro West Conference Championships – The new Metro West concludes on Saturday at Cooper with Benilde and Chaska looking to fight it out for top honors.  Chanhassen keeps it close in the mix, improving each meet.  If Benilde can end this one on top, the rest of AA should take note that they were not an early season flash.  The knightettes take their dance pretty seriously to stay ahead of a solid Chaska program.

The Line Up
Charmed Runnin
Just For Kix
Satin Stitches
Dirty Dog Productions
