Results Recap – Holiday Break

I hope everyone had a merry and bright holiday and you’re enjoying some well earned down-time.  Those back-to-it workouts might feel a little rough if you ate as many Christmas cookies as I did…..oh my.  We did have some invites on the 21st to report back on, so lets see where things shook out after the last meets of 2013.

Conference Championships:  We had 3 conference championships in recent days with Totino Grace, Henry Sibley, and Eastview winning their respective tournaments.  While those names aren’t new to the top of the podium, what was fun to see was what happened in the middle of the pack.  Lakeville South pulled out some solid performances to end up 2nd in the always difficult South Suburban.  An awesome showing for the cougars team.  South St. Paul also made something happen over a tough Simley team in the Classic Suburban, claiming a 2nd there.  I didn’t get a results summary from the North Suburban championships yet, but since I was there watching I know both Totino (the winner) and Benilde are looking very strong this year in both categories.  Should be fun to see going ahead.

Frazee Invitational:  The Frazee Friday night event hosted a big field of top names, with Pelican Rapids surging ahead and taking surprise wins in both kick and jazz over top teams from Frazee (2nd in jazz) and Lac Qui Parle (2nd in kick).  The Valkyries aren’t going to settle for middle of the road this year.

Lake City Invitational:  The huge section 1A meet in Lake City did not disappoint this year, with Lake City winning kick and Zumbrota bumping their way up into the 2nd place spot, dropping Randolph to 3rd (and a tie with Plainview). Zumbrota also widened their lead in jazz, with St. Charles and Wabasha rounding out the top 3.

Holy Angels Invitational:  The winter jam was a fun one to watch again this year, with Sartell staying on top in kick over Cannon Falls and St. Cloud Cathedral who took 3rd.  I thought the top 9 teams all looked good enough to place in any other small meet, so that says something about the depth of AA this year.  Jazz was all Benilde, with Sartell taking 2nd and Holy Family looking good in 3rd.  AA is just getting started and there will be some flips in these rankings for sure.

Results Clean-Up:  Its holiday break and time to clean up the missing/wrong results.  I’m going to be cleaning things up visually, but what bugs me the most is those missing Score Summary pages that didn’t get sent to me.  I’m missing almost everything from Central Lakes Conference meets, the North Suburban Conference Championships, and a few random others.  If you have a picture, PDF, or anything I can use — send it on in!  If you don’t see it up on the page now, I don’t have it (or can’t find it!).  This scoring release system is only fair and working if we get EVERYTHING out there.  Email works best, as I don’t see everything in comments/facebook/twitter (It’s a lot to manage!) Coaches have to do some judges ratings anyways…..so bust out those old score packets and check for something missing!  Many thanks!
