Weekend Preview – Mid December 2015

What an exciting December this has turned out to be!  In case you missed it, check out our first ever video coverage “article” on the Tri-Metro Conference from Tuesday.  Very fun to try something bigger and better for the website!  Hopefully we’ll put together more audio and video content for you in the coming 2016 year.  Stay tuned for that.  Also, don’t zone out after next week when the holidays roll around – we put out the ever popular mid-season sections leaderboards around Christmas time, and you won’t want to miss it.  For now, lets take a look at the invitationals this weekend:

Eastview Invitational:  The winter classic invite is over-the-top huge this year with a schedule that runs nearly a solid 12 hours.  The not-to-be missed names of AA and AAA will be making appearances, no order of performance listed just yet.  This event is the pick of the week if you don’t know where you might go watch.

Lakeville North Invitational:  Just down the road from the Eastview meet, Henry Sibley, Rogers, Elk River, and a pack of 8 AAA teams will be having a mixed-section meetup.  Host Lakeville North is trying to make an impression in their conference and will look to have a strong showing at home against this group.

Fridley Invitational:  The Fridley meet will feature a AA morning, and AAA/A in the PM.  Austin and Faribault will get their first AA matchup this year, and most of section 2AA will be on hand to start establishing some trends in that region.  Class A will have fun bringing in BOLD from out west, Wabasha Kellogg from the south to join the section 2A teams.  AAA will be highlighted by performances from Anoka, Apple Valley, and Champlin Park to name a few.

Albany Invitational:  The advantageous location of the Albany meet will bring a wide range of teams in from all directions.  Class A will feature state champs Aitkin and Duluth Marshall, along with Montevideo and Lac Qui Parle Valley as contenders.  AA will host teams from Monticello, St. Cloud Apollo, Watertown, Melrose, and Albany.

Zumbrota Mazeppa Invitational:  The ZM meet is always a favorite for section 1A with most of those teams out for scoring this weekend.  St. Charles had a big jazz win last weekend and will want to make an impression against their section.  Lake City is one to catch in the kick division with Dover, St. Charles, and Zumbrota all defending their top honors of section 1A as well.  This group has the most room for change this weekend, anything can and does happen for Class A in December.

Renville County West Invitational:  Yellow Medicine East makes its 15/16 debut here this weekend, with strong competition from New Ulm Cathedral and the host school, RCW to contend with.  MACCRAY, Worthington, and Lakeview join the lineup along with a keep-an-eye-on team from Canby who will be showing their kick routine.  Score trends from this meet will set the tone for upcoming western MN meets.

Waconia Invitational:  No Schedule at time of release.
