Weekend Recap – 1/12 Invitationals

What a crazy busy dance team weekend it was!  Besides a huge schedule of invitationals – we also had a dance competition at the Mall of America and classes, camps, clinics, practices, and team events left and right!  State is less than 5 weeks away now and some teams will be done with their season in 3 weeks.  wow!  The results from this weekend are up, lets take a look at the goings on so far from 2013……

Minnetonka Invitational:

The AA kick division was tight between an always strong Faribault program and Totino Grace.  Both are state finalists looking for some hardware this year at the state meet.  Split ranks will keep this mix close.  Mound Westonka flipped the earlier weeknight results with Holy Family and won the AA jazz meet.

Rocori Invitational:

Sartell skipped the drive to Marshall and stayed close to home to win this event.

Waconia Invitational:

BSM took home the gold in both AA events, with Hutch and Monte looking to battle it out at sections in 3 weeks.

Hawley Invitational:

This one cancelled due to all the rain and ice causing havoc up north.  Northern teams will just have to wait for their next matchups, probably coming at Pelican Rapids this coming Saturday.

Lakeville South Invitational:

Brainerd continued to impress with a double win this weekend at South.  The host team is showing its making a move over several section rivals and cross-town school Lakeville North.  Over in class A, Kenyon Wanamingo won their division in their first ever team competition.  How fun for them, that must have been some fun awards ceremony to watch.

Marshall Invitational:

The Marshall meet went all class A, with Cannon Falls winning the kick crown, and Tracy winning jazz.  Tracy, BOLD, and RCW have been close in placements this year and the dust hasn’t settled between them yet.  Lac Qui Parle had a strong jazz showing at Alexandria the week before, but settled for 4th this time.  The Shadows also had a tie in kick with BOLD, who is making themselves be taken seriously in the kick division after many years of being dominant in jazz.

NWSC Championships – Maple Grove:

The NWSC settled on a victor in Maple Grove with Andover and Blaine splitting the 2nd place jazz title.  Should indicate a tight matchup coming up at their Elk River sections meet.  It will be interesting to see how Brainerd fits into that mix, as well as my usual wild card Duluth East.

Still looking for a few results — Rochester Century especially.  Here’s this weeks events:

Wednesday: Suburban East Conference Championships – Cretin

Thursday: Lake Conference Meet, Minnesota River Conference Championships

Friday: CLC Conference Championships, Northern Lights Conference Championships

Saturday: Wayzata Invitational, Totino Grace Invitational, Wright County Conference Championships, Big 9 Conference Championships, Mississippi 8 Conference Championships, Pelican Rapids Invitational, Mayer Lutheran Invitational, 3 Rivers Conference Championship, Farmington Invitational, YME Invitational, Superior Conference Championships
